Hirers must be present during their event and are responsible for ensuring that the premises are only used for the purpose described in the booking agreement and may not sub-hire or allow the premises to be used for any unlawful purpose.
Children must be supervised at all times and not permitted to enter the kitchen except under careful supervision. Close supervision of children is also required on the stage and in the car park.
No persons under the age of 18 are permitted to consume alcohol on the premises.
Hirers are responsible for the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults at their event. It is recommended that a minimum of 2 adults are providing appropriate supervision at all times.
The NSPCC recommend the following ratios for the general supervision of children:
- 4-8 years:1 adult to 6 children (1:6)
- 9-12 years:1 adult to 8 children (1:8)
- 13-18 years:1 adult to 10 children (1:10)
Hirers are responsible for controlling access to the building during their event and ensuring that uninvited / unauthorised persons do not have access. For events where children will be present it is recommended that the entire venue is hired.
Hirers should have emergency contact details for parents / guardians of all children and vulnerable persons attending an event, club or class and ensure that children are collected by a responsible person with permission to do so.
In agreement with the hirer / event organiser, parents / guardians are welcome to make use of the balcony area in the main hall to be ‘on hand’ for their child / children during an event, club or class whilst allowing them a degree of independence.
