Having brought football back to Benenden Village Hall over the last 2 seasons in partnership with Staplehurst Monarchs FC, we are pleased to announce that our new resident football club will be Headcorn FC.
Headcorn FC, formed in 1886, is one of the oldest football clubs in the Vale of Kent and celebrate their 140th year this season!
Since the club was founded, Headcorn FC has had very successful adult teams, producing league and cup winning sides many times.
Headcorn FC has a thriving youth section fielding both boys’ and girls’ sides, and a women’s team. However, Headcorn FC has been without a men’s side. With the re-introduction of a men’s team, the club‘s football pathway is now complete and is once more competing in the Maidstone & Mid Kent Sunday Football League.
Former Staplehurst Monarchs FC Sunday Men’s manager, Wayne Totterdell, will lead the new Headcorn FC side and said
“After 17 amazing years at Staplehurst I felt I needed a new challenge and the chance to complete Headcorn’s club set up was too much to resist. Headcorn is a fantastic village club and everyone there has worked so hard to develop a thriving youth section. The new team now gives those young players a pathway into open age men’s football and complete their model”.
He continued
“if anyone is looking for a warm welcoming club for their children, or to play women’s or men’s open age football you’d struggle to find a better place. Our women’s team are actively recruiting now, so if you want some fun sociable fitness drop them a line!”.

The Football Pitch
Our football pitch is an 11-a-side pitch (approx. 95m x 54m) with full size goals. There are changing rooms with showers & toilets which can also be hired.
Benenden Village Hall does not have a groundskeeper to maintain the football pitch. Therefore, the pitch is unofficially sub-leased to Headcorn Football Club who maintain the pitch, markings, equipment, etc. Any other hirers would need to ensure the pitch was sufficiently marked or mark it out themselves.
The pitch is clay soil and as such drainage is fairly poor. Whilst it is hoped that a further grant can be secured for pitch improvements, it is not currently feasible for too many matches to take place on a regular basis. It is hoped that improvements to the pitch will allow more matches to take place and for other football teams to use our facilities.
